I’m Giacomo Carbonara and I arrange yacht charters on the Costa Smeralda and across the Mediterranean. I have Rial Rent’s Azimut 86S exclusively: a 26.7-metre flybridge based in Portisco, with four cabins, up to 8 guests overnight and a crew of 4. If you’d rather leave from Monaco, Saint-Tropez, Capri or Saint-Barth, or you need a yacht from 24 to 70 metres and beyond, I talk to owners and captains myself.
I know the Azimut 86S well. It leaves Portisco with a captain, chef, hostess and deckhand, and within a day you can reach Porto Cervo, La Maddalena, Bonifacio or the Lavezzi islands. Before you board I ask how you like to spend your days, so the chef and captain can plan around you. For bigger boats, I call the owners I know.

The chef is on board. We plan the menu and wines together before you leave, based on what you like.

On the Azimut: a Williams tender, Seabob F5, paddle boards, wakeboard and snorkelling gear.

Routes and berths
La Maddalena, Bonifacio, the Lavezzi islands and southern Corsica on the Azimut. For Monaco, Saint-Tropez and Capri, I find you the boat.

From 24 to 70 metres and beyond, sail or motor. I find them by talking directly to owners and captains.

You sign the MYBA contract and make the payments. I pass your preferences on to the captain and the chef.

01How many guests does the Azimut 86S take?
Up to 8 guests overnight, in four cabins. More people can come aboard for a day trip, within the yacht’s certification limits.
02How much does it cost to charter a superyacht in the Mediterranean?
The weekly charter fee depends on length, year, crew and season. On top of that come the APA for fuel, food and berthing, usually 30‑35% in the Mediterranean, VAT in the country of embarkation and the crew tip. Before you sign the MYBA contract, I write out every item for you, one by one.
03How many guests can sleep on board a charter yacht?
Most charter yachts can sleep a maximum of 12 guests, even very large ones, because international safety rules say so. For a party during the day more people can come aboard, depending on the yacht’s certification and the permits of its flag state.
04When is the best time to charter a yacht in Monaco, Porto Cervo and Saint‑Tropez?
High season runs from June to September. The busiest moments are the Monaco Grand Prix, the Monaco Yacht Show in September and August on the Costa Smeralda. If you can, go for May or October: the sea is calmer, it’s still warm and berths and boats are easier to find.
